It's a lot of fun to oscillate from panic to depression with brief flashes of anger along the way, isn't it?I think Absinthe said it best:
Things I learned this week:
1) It's okay to torture people and hold them indefinitely without recourse to the courts.
2) It's not okay to play online poker.
I am so enraged and disgusted with this Congress, I can hardly speak without falling into one sputtering tirade after another, so I'm going to hold my tongue (and let the image speak) for the time being.
I will say this, though: this is complete bullshit. We're paying more in taxes than we ever have, to a government that is slowly but steadily taking away more and more of our freedoms and liberties. The way this prohibition was passed, and the effect it will have on millions of Americans, is a perfect example of how out of control our current one party rule has become.

1. Wil, thanks for speaking for all of us and for keeping us updated on the responses from the poker sites we all frequent. we are all cautiously waiting to hear how this will play out for us, and where (if anywhere) we can play safely.
i found a few interesting related news articles on non-gambling centered news sites that may shed some light on mainstream reactions to this non-sense:

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20061002/124356.shtml
i like to look at these views to see what the general public thinks and balance that out with the more passionate comments from fellow poker sites. some of these sites have some interesting comments that probably should be thought about and/or rebutted by someone (read: not me) who can make a good argument.
