WWdN: Dr. Pauly Appreciation Tourney Results

What a night. Seventy-five players showed up to play poker and honor the good doc himself, Dr. Pauly. I told my family early on that I was going to win this one to show my appreciation for all the hard work he has done, but I fell short by one place and came in second - hopefully the sentiment is still received the same.

Hand of the night had to be between TheFilmGeek and Wil, when Geek caught runner-runner to make quad queens over Wil's pocket aces. I didn't see the hand personally, but news of it spread fast across the tables. You have to check out this link though - I think it says it all.

I received a few terrible beats myself, yet managed to dole them out as well - especially to MrAckley, when my QQ all-in met his KK all-in, and I flopped a set.

The final table (actually, the final 14 or so) took longer than it did to lose the first 61 players - some unbelievable talent out there tonight, that is for certain.

Big congrats to stone_11 for claiming first prize!! See everyone next week.

3. In fairness, Chris didn't hit runner runner. Will dared a blind steal, Chris raised to, as I recall, 10XBB Will goes All In, Chris Calls. Will flips Pokcet Aces, Chris pocet Queens. Flop K-T-x Turn the magic Q then blank on the river.

At least, that's how I remember it, and I was stuck sitting between the two fo them.

4. No, turn was the magic queen, and river was the final queen. At least when Joanne pulled the same move on me, she had the good manners to not hit quads.

5. It wasn't a blank on the river against Wil, it was another Queen =)

Joanne, Great game last night. After falling way behind, I never thought I'd get to 3rd place. Some fantastic talent out there!

6. Thanks for blogging this Joanne. It was a lot of fun. For a while you and I were neck and neck for the chip lead, and then boom, card dead. Ah well, at least I wasn't sucked out like Wil :)
