There is no regular poker in the Bahamas, so when
PokerStars goes to Atlantis each year for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, they bring everything it takes to set up
the island's only poker room: tables, dealers, cashiers, floor men, tens of thousands of chips, and, of course,
players.Even though Atlantis is a beautiful resort, and the weather was quite nice the entire them we were there, the lists in the poker room were always a mile long, whether the game was 1/2 or 100/200. In an average casino, you can expect to wait a long time for a sit-n-go to fill up, but at the PCA, you had to wait an hour or longer because they were so popular.
There was one day, though, when it was much easier to get a seat in the poker room, and that was Sunday January 8th. It wasn't because the players got religion, though, it was because they were all in the weekly $200 15 $500,000 guaranteed tournament on PokerStars.com.
It was quite a sight, to walk into any of the WiFi-enabled areas of the resort, and find players packed in, elbow-to-elbow, in some cases playing battleship-style, in others, sweating each other after one of them had been eliminated, in all, hoping to claim first place, which was worth over $125,000.
The lobby of my tower was filled with recognizable professional players, like Evlyn Ng, Alex Todd, Michael Mizrachi, and others. There were also fearsome online pros, and a few donkeys like me. The energy was just as electric, and the stakes just as high as they were down the hall in the live poker room, where the main event of the PCA was still underway. The only difference? Players could smoke in the lobby, while the poker room was smoke-free.
If you're interested in seeing how the final table of one of these epic events goes down, PokerStars will be running a television-style replay of the action from January 8th's event, revealing most of the players' hole cards. It will be a great opportunity to see into the strategic minds of players who navigated their way through one of the largest fields in online history, and will hopefully set a precedent for future MTTs, including the WCOOP events later this year.
According to Otis at the Official PokerStars Blog, the final table replay will happen today and tomorrow, (January 17-18) from 12pm-8pm ET. For more details, follow the link below.

1. Oh, man! I missed the whole first half. I wish there were some way I could get a copy of those histories!
