As many of you know - I leave tomorrow to go to Las Vegas for the WPBT Winter Classic II. (More on that coming soon.) I've been so busy this week with packing, planning, and running around, that I completely forgot that I am going to be playing poker on this trip. A LOT of poker. How something like that can slip my mind, I have no idea, but now I find myself feeling fairly unprepared.
I have only played a handful of online tournaments over the past couple of weeks, but it has been even longer since I played a live tourney or cash game. Normally I would set aside some time prior to playing to go over various situations in my head and plan out my strategy, but I don't think I will have that luxury this time. Hopefully over the next few days I will be able to get my head back in the game a little, but I am curious to hear from you now. What do you do to prepare for a live poker tournament or ring game? Is there anything specific, or do you just wing it? Do you develop a game plan prior to sitting at the table, or do you practice in smaller games first? Let us know.

1. My pre-game ritual consist of watching the players in the cash games prior to the tourney to try to pick out who's gonna give me trouble.
Then a gulp of liquid courage. I know you're not supposed to drink but this "loosens" me up so I don't go into weak-tight mode.
