Mark my words; this is a name you are going to be hearing a lot of. His name is Joe Sebok, and I am wagering that he will be the next big thing in the poker world. He already made a huge splash at the World Series of Poker this year, placing in the money on two final tables:
- 8th place in the $5,000 Pot Limit Hold’em on June 20th - $33,700
- 5th place in the $5,000 Limit Hold’em event on June 27th - $75,860
So who is this guy?
Aside from playing poker, he also writes about the subject - chronicling his success (and mistakes) while climbing up the poker ladder. Though he is relatively new to the game himself, a lot can be learned by reading his articles, especially if you are a beginner player. The stories are informative and entertaining, yet surprisingly humble - almost self-depreciating at times, which is somewhat unexpected considering his success to date. Joe only took up the game of poker a couple of years ago, and has progressed through the ranks quite rapidly. He has been playing tournaments, live cash games, as well as Internet poker, and participated in this year’s WCOOP.
I admit, this story doesn’t sound too tremendously different from that of other players who have done well over the past few years, but there is something different about this guy, and like I said – I predict that he will go far.
After all, he is Barry Greenstein’s kid – how could he not?
