The New York Daily News is calling it the Curse of A-Rod. There’s been a big crack down in NYC with the underground poker rooms. The recent NYPD raids have caused the closing of seven card rooms. Some people are joking that NY Yankee Alex Rodriguez is to blame. Every time A-Rod was spotted playing poker in a card room, the club would get raided by the police.
No one is saying he’s a snitch or anything like that but the media exposure he’s getting from these appearances has definitely ticked off the NYPD. Call it the NYPD’s payback for flaunting an illegal business. After one bust, the owners claim police left a newspaper clipping of an A-Rod poker story behind. That’s pretty funny!
As you know, A-Rod was recently spotted at the Broadway Club and Ace Point playing poker. Those clubs were later busted. Comically, Robert Iler from the Sopranos walked right into the Ace Point bust.
A-Rod has been seen playing poker at a different midtown club now. Supposedly, he’s doing pretty well. I guess Phil Hellmuth’s coaching has worked out well.
Maybe A-Rod should work a little harder on getting some hits in the MLB playoffs instead! Click on the below story. It’s the second one down.
