Mike Caro wrote a nice article for beginner poker players. If you are new to playing poker and have recently learned the game by watching it on television, then this article is a must read. Then again, since most poker players are predatory in nature, maybe I shouldn’t be pointing the newcomers toward this article. We need bad poker players out there. The rest of us need to make money somehow, right? Only kidding. Caro talks about how people shouldn’t be learning the game of poker through television. It creates bad habits in the long run and severely cuts down on your ability to be a successful and winning poker player. New players are way too impressionable watching pros play crappy hands out of position and getting lucky. Television creates an illusion that loose reckless play is always rewarding. Check out Caro’s article for more information.
